The city of Dickinson has been called "the best kept secret on the Gulf Coast". Dickinson is located on I-45 and Dickinson Bayou, between Houston & Galveston. The Johnson Space Center, Clear Lake Area, and the Galveston Bay and 3 major shopping areas including Baybrook mall are within 10 miles. The community of Dickinson extends well beyond the boundaries of the City limits and includes over 25,000 people within the Dickinson school district. Dickinson Bayou is used for a wide variety of activities including fishing, boating, swimming, and water-skiing!
Julie Johnson is the city administrator for the City of Dickinson Texas. Julie joined the City in March of 2007 she brings with her 12 years of municipal experience. Prior to Julie coming to Dickinson, she was the City Manager for the City of Oak Point for 4 years. She also served as the Assistant to the City Manager and head of Intergovernmental Relations for the City of Plano, a position she held for four years, and as a legal assistant in the Plano City Attorney's Office for four years prior to moving into the City Manager's office.
The city of Dickinson is growing more and more each day. Dickinson ISD
just finished the new Dickinson Education Support Center, which will house the district's support service departments, as well as training rooms for staff development and a board room to seat 175 people. The building's design is "green" and very energy-efficient with solar panels and a wind turbine to help with electricity costs.
New residential construction is making its presence in Dickinson as well. With its close proximity to Clear Lake Kemah, and Galveston it is a prime location to live. There are many new neighborhoods with waterfront property along the Dickinson Bayou and homes in this area are quite affordable for home buyers.
